Vegan Celebrities We Love

Vegan Celebrities We Love

These days, many vegan celebrities have rocking style – check out which vegan celebrities our friends over at The Vegan Company love and why…

Ah celebrities – those famous enough to be household names. There’s no doubt plenty of perks (imagine being able to get tickets for, well, pretty much anything), but we bet it’s also a restrictive life at times, where living in the “real world” is incredibly difficult. Being constantly photographed and written about comes with the territory, which is why we're such huge fans of vegan celebrities – those who use their famous status to induce a positive change in the world. Whether for ethical, moral, health or environmental reasons, these celebrities all have one thing in common – they actively choose to tread a kinder, cruelty free path. And we love them for it!

Thankfully, the days where being vegan was seen as a bit of a joke and ridiculed (guilty), it’s increasingly a positive lifestyle choice for an ever-growing number of people who care about the planet and the animals we share it with. And it’s not just about food. Veganism encompasses what we wear and the cosmetics and skincare we use too. What was once considered a fad is now considered cool and is slowly moving into the mainstream. If you were ahead of this trend, then give yourself a pat on the back!

When it comes to fashion, there can be confusion between the terms sustainable and vegan. An item can be called sustainable, but that doesn’t mean its cruelty free. It can be hard to know what brands to trust and support. Fortunately, most of those designing in the vegan space, whether it is animal free clothes, accessories or shoes, also consider issues to do with fair trade and sustainability. And while not all parts of the fashion industry have vegan options, increasingly the larger fashion brands and retailers are meeting consumer demand for more transparency. From sourcing ethical materials to ensuring they’re working with supply chains that treat workers fairly (the eco-system has to work together). There is more product innovation from tech-infused products to sustainable and eco-friendly materials. Finally, it feels like the cruelty-free movement is conquering the fashion industry!

Which brings us back to vegan celebrities who are rocking vegan fashion. Not only are their ethical choices to be celebrated, so is their sense of style and for pushing the fashion landscape in the right direction.

Here are some of our favourites:
Emma Watson Vegan

Emma Watson

Ethical fashion is an important issue to Emma. She signed up for the Green Carpet Challenge in 2015, agreeing that every single piece she wears on the red carpet would be sustainable. Her Calvin Klein Met Gala 2016 gown, was made out of recycled plastic bottles.

Miley Cyrus Vegan

Miley Cyrus

Miley is a stand out in any crowd and an amazing vegan ambassador, converting to veganism in 2014. At last years Met Ball she said, “I am so excited to be here again, part of this unique moment and show the world that we don’t have to be torture animals to look fabulous.”

Alicia Silverstone Vegan

Alicia Silverstone

Alicia came to fame in 1995 as Cher Horowitz in the movie Clueless as a fashionista. In real life, she has been a vegan since 1998 (I say WHAT!) & wears only vegan and eco-friendly clothes, with a mixture of vintage & fashion brands.

Kate Mara Vegan

Kate Mara

Older sister of the wonderful Rooney Mara, Kate Mara went vegan in 2014. Her philosophy is very much about not punishing yourself for not being perfect all the time. Kate says. “Changing your lifestyle can take time and I’ve seen many people try to change too quickly and then give up because it was too difficult.

Rooney Mara Vegan

Rooney Mara

Rooney Mara is married to the fabulous vegan activist and academy award winner Joaquin Phoenix. We strongly believe Rooney is Hollywood's best-kept secret leading lady. Rooney launched her own range of ethical fashion range called HIRAETH.
– a range designed for forward-thinking, creative people who believe in all living creatures! Very cool

With so many fabulous celebrities leading the way through the Academy Awards, not to mention the Golden Globes, we love seeing the ever growing list of change makers and influencers growing in the years ahead.
